Gillian is a road cyclist, riding socially & competitively and is currently the FV50 Scottish National Champion!
Gillian started cycling to do a duathlon when she was 40. At that time Gillian was mostly running but wanted a new challenge and when she starting training on the bike she discovered it was a lot easier on her body than running. Gradually Gillian stopped running and concentrated on cycling.
Gillian joined Dunfermline Cycling Club in 2019 as first claim, she was previously second claim with Kinross Cycling Club as her first claim, however she was training more with DCC so switched club.
Gillian was attracted to DCC as she does a lot of training with her partner and fellow DCC member, Ken, and the training sessions at FCP were good for her last year. Everyone is very welcoming and lots of good banter.
Gillian trains most days but has been restricted over the last 3 months after she broke my collar bone but am building it back up. Before her accident she would do 3 or 4 rides during the week of about 25 to 35 miles and then longer rides at the weekend.
Being a social & competitive cyclist Gillian started racing 2 years ago, before that she did lots of Sportives and enjoys the social aspect of group rides. Her biggest cycling achievement would be when she completed LEJOG in 2015 as well as winning the FV50 Scottish National champs for last 2 years.
