14th May
New Start Ride

With Spring very much in the air, and hopefully here to stay Dunfermline Cycling Club will be running its first
New Start Ride of 2022 on Saturday 14th May at 09:30.
Cycling in Nature
What is it?
It is a led 26.5mile ride over quiet roads and cycle paths in West Fife and Clackmannanshire, ideal for anyone who wants to try out riding in an organised group for the first time, those who want to get back on Club rides after a while away, or anyone who fancies a shorter, easier outing.

The group will go at the pace of the slowest rider with no-one being left behind. The course is fairly flat, or as flat as it can be in this part of the world, but will we always stop and regroup at the top of any hills to allow riders to catch up.
The emphasis is on fun.

Where do we go?
We meet at the car park at the start of the West Fife Cycleway on William Street
at 9.30.
After a ride briefing and a quick equipment safety check, we head out along the West Fife Cycleway before branching north to Forestmill and Aberdona then on to our half-way café stop at Muircot Farm Shop and a chance to refuel. The return route takes us to back to Saline and then to Dunfermline via Craigluscar and Milesmark hopefully arriving back to the start point at around 12.15 pm. Full details of the route can be found here.

Is it for me?
The New Start Ride is suitable for anyone in good health who is comfortable riding their bike on public roads for between two to three hours. There will be a little bit of climbing, but we will go at a steady pace with the aim of keeping everyone together.
You do not need to be a Dunfermline Cycling Club Member to take part.
