Podium at the Scottish National Hill Climb Championships
Nice day for the Scottish National Hill Climb Championship today at Purin Den. A bit foggy in the morning but no rain and the wind was pointing up the hill.
Slight delay to the start as a coach load of French students went up to the top car park to admire the view and we had to wait for the coach to come back down adding a 30 minute delay to the start.
I felt like I got off to a fast start with the tail wind behind me but when the road kicked up I found I had nothing in the legs. Had to push hard to the easier middle section where I rested instead of clicking up the gears just to make sure I made it to the finish. Had one final push at the end although the finish line ended up further away than I was hoping and was spent before I reached it almost coming to a stop on the line. After 5 minutes hyperventilating at the top of the hill I then headed down to cheer on the rest of the competitors.
Some great times from the day with a new course record being set by David Griffiths.
