DCC Annual Presentation Dinner

Dunfermline Cycling Club has held its annual presentation dinner at the newly refurbished Hilton Doubletree Queensferry Hotel on Saturday evening. This was the highest turnout yet for the annual event with it being close to a sell out, where members are rewarded for their achievements in 2017 and have a chance to relax and enjoy the social aspect of the Club.

With stunning views across the three Forth bridges, our members and their partners were treated to a red carpet reception with complimentary drinks before tucking into a superb three course meal. Thereafter the awards presentations got underway, celebrating our members achievements in competitive cycling across various disciplines (announced earlier on these pages) in addition to five new awards launched this year for non-competitive cycling to recognise the diversity in our membership.

These were announced on the night and we can now reveal the winners are -

Audax Award   - Findlay Watt Women's Newcomer of the Year  - Angela Dixon

Men's Newcomer of the Year- Alan Gilroy Most improved Male - Graeme Taylor Most improved Female - Linda Wallis

Our award for Clubperson of the Year was then announced. With five worthy nominees, all suggested by the members, voting had been taking place over the preceding weeks but the results were hugely in favour of one candidate, Mary Morgan! Mary is our Womens Secretary as well as Recreational Road Sec and Welfare Officer for the club.

Reasons for Mary's nomination inluded such comments as "She is a great ambassador for the club and a great role model for female club members"; "I believe Mary, over the last 12 months has worked tirelessly at raising the profile for female riders, promoting new members and new start rides.."; "I think she embodies everything that is good about the club..."

Truly well deserved Mary!

Thereafter diners were 'entertained' with the annual Chairmans Quiz (a hotly contested competition I'm told!) before whiling away the evening with a tipple into the small hours of the night.

Special thanks must go to Neil Daly, Vice Chairman for organising the whole affair and ensuring everyone had a superb evening!
